In Memoriam: Paul F. Kenney

Senior Attorney and Founding Partner

Kenney & Conley, P.C. mourns the passing of Paul Francis Kenney, our founding partner, who died peacefully on April 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 76.

For over 50 years, Paul Kenney dedicated his professional life to the representation of individuals and families who had suffered catastrophic injury and loss. His career was defined by exceptional trial skill, unwavering integrity, and an unrelenting commitment to justice.

Paul was raised in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and the University of Massachusetts. He earned his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law, where he developed a lifelong passion for trial advocacy. He began his legal career as an intern in the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office and later served as an attorney with the Massachusetts Defenders Committee. In 1978, he joined Murphy, Lamere & Murphy, concentrating on complex trial work in civil litigation, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.

In 1985, Paul became a founding partner of the firm that would evolve into Kenney & Conley, P.C. Thereafter, he focused his practice on catastrophic injury litigation in state and federal courts throughout Massachusetts. Over decades of practice, Paul earned a reputation as a formidable courtroom advocate and a trusted counselor to clients during their most difficult times. In December 2024, he proudly marked 50 years in the practice of law.

Paul was deeply committed to the development of the firm and its people. He was a generous mentor to attorneys and staff alike and took great pride in building a firm culture rooted in preparation, professionalism, and compassion. His influence will continue to shape Kenney & Conley for generations.

Paul’s legacy is one of excellence, leadership, and service—both to the law and to the community. He will be profoundly missed by his colleagues, clients, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

While we greatly miss Paul’s presence, his example remains the Firm’s spiritual center of gravity.

Those who knew Paul will appreciate the tribute linked below from his son, Evan.
